View Families?

Is there a way to view families? We setup families and we can view who is in a family by clicking on a contact - but it would be nice to have the option to show all the families and drill down in that manner.

There is a Family report (pdf file).
And you can do a query for IsHeadOfHousehold.

Yeah, but I'd like the interactive ability to navigate through them...and IsHeadOfHousehold is not a very user friendly query - especially if you aren't a techno-geek like me or a techno-genius like you. ;)

Dave, please indulge me a bit here. You have had several good suggestions in the past that I have been responsive to. I'm sure you realize that I can't possibly do everything that might be cool and I have to prioritize my time. I really need to be sold on something and right now I'm not sold on your idea. In other words, I am not feeling your pain (defined as something that makes your job difficult). So the best way to sell me is to tell me what daily job requirement this would make "much easier" i.e. make me feel your pain.

I would suggest that you mock up a sample page of HTML to illustrate what you want to see. Then mock up the form or whatever causes this page to display. In other words, where would it fit in the current flow. And obviously, it could not be ALL the families. Keep in mind that many churches have many thousands of families.

But first please tell me the use case for this and why what we have does not satisfy that. This is the first request I have had for such a thing and I can't think of why I would want it (over the many other things I do want!). It is quite easy to find a family.

And you realize that the what you call "not user friendly query for HeadOfHousehold" can be saved in the Saved Queries so it does not have to be built every time if it is a common query. Not sure what's not user friendly about that.
